Courses Description


Nursing Assistant/Home Health Aide

This program meets both Minnesota and federal curriculum requirements for Nursing Assistant/Home Health Aide certification. Once completed successfully, graduates are eligible for the state competency exam to become Certified. Certified Nursing Assistants/Home Health Aides are eligible for employment in hospitals, home health care agencies, assisted living facilities, long term care facilities and retirement homes.

 

Mental Health First Aid

Mental Health First Aid is a 12-hours training course designed to give members of the public key skills to help someone who is developing a mental health problem or experiencing a mental health crisis.  The course covers a range of common disorders and potential crisis such as helping someone who is having a panic attack, is suicidal or has experienced an addictions relapse.

 The training also provides useful information on how to assist a person who has history of mental health disorder during an episode.The curriculum takes 12 hours to complete. It includes Lectures, Videos, Slides, Handouts and Class Activities.


First Aid/ CPR for the Workplace

The training was added to the curriculum to help students identify and eliminate potentially hazardous conditions in their environment, recognize emergencies and make appropriate decisions for first aid care to an ill or injured person until more advance medical care arrives. The 5 hours training is presented in two sections.

  • Overcoming Barriers to act
  • Good Samaritan Laws and Obtaining Consent
